When, what and where…Held concurrently with Salone del Gusto in Torino from October 23 to 27, the third edition of the biennial international of the Terra Madre Network will bring together food communities, cooks, academics and youth delegates for four days to work towards increasing small-scale, traditional and sustainable food production.
Terra Madre was conceived by Slow Food International, the philosophy of which has evolved over the organization’s history and has crystallized around the idea that “eating is an agricultural act and producing is a gastronomic act”.
Slow Food International recognizes the need to protect and support small producers, and to help to change the systems that have placed them in danger by bringing together the key decision makers within our international food systems: consumers, educators, chefs, cooks, researchers and NGOs, for example. Thus, Terra Madre was born: an event to give voice and visibility to rural food producers, to raise the general population’s awareness of the value of their work and to sustain rural producers and their farms for the good of people everywhere and the health of the planet.
With these lofty goals in mind, Terra Madre has formed and continues to cultivate a global network of key decision makers within our respective regional food systems.
